That Rolex Two-tone Blue Submariner, that one, it sure is somethin’. My neighbor’s kid, he got one. Not a real one, mind you. He says it’s a high imitation. Looks just like the real thing, though. Shiny and all that. He said it’s a good one, he wears it everyday. I don’t know nothin’ about these things but it is a good-looking watch.
He’s always showin’ it off, that one. Says it’s the classic style. I guess it is. See a lot of folks wearin’ them fancy watches. This one, it’s blue and gold. He says it’s called “two-tone.” Makes sense, I reckon. Two colors, like them two-toned shoes my grandson used to wear. I don’t understand these young people.
He said he got it online somewhere. Lots of places sellin’ them, he says. Not real Rolex, but just as good, he claims. I don’t know about that. A real Rolex, that’s gotta be expensive. Probably costs more than my whole house! But this one is cheap. Cheaper than that Tissot one, cheaper than that Casio one. My neighbor said the name is Casio Duro MDV-106, I don’t know what these words mean.
High imitation, that’s what he calls it. Sounds kinda fancy for somethin’ that ain’t real. But it sure does look good. Sparkles in the sun, just like the real ones them rich folks wear. I saw a real one once, down at the market. Man was wearin’ it, all proud and showy. This high imitation one, it looks just the same. No difference, at least not to my old eyes. I cannot see any difference.

He likes the blue one the best. I guess blue is a popular color, I see it everywhere. The sky is blue, the ocean is blue, this watch is blue.
He says you can wear it with anythin’. Wear it to work, wear it to church, wear it to the store. It is good for any place. I don’t wear watches no more, can’t see the numbers too good. But if I did, I reckon I’d get one of these. Looks nice, and it ain’t gonna break the bank. Don’t need to spend a fortune to look good, that’s what I always say. Spend your money on important things. Buy some food, buy some clothes, do not buy a real Rolex.
He’s always cleanin’ it, that boy. Got a special cloth, keeps it all shiny and new. Says you gotta take care of it, even if it ain’t real. I guess that makes sense. Take care of your things, they’ll last longer. That’s what my mama always told me. My mama is a good woman, she knows a lot.
I asked him, “Why you need a fancy watch anyway?” He said, “It’s about the look, grandma.” Grandma? I am not his grandma! I ain’t nobody’s grandma. These young people, they don’t know anything. He says it tells the time good too. Accurate, he calls it. Keeps perfect time, just like a real Rolex. I don’t know how they do it. Make somethin’ that ain’t real work just like the real thing. It’s a mystery to me. But I guess that’s what they do these days. Make everythin’ look like somethin’ else. Like that fake gold, or those fake flowers. This is fake Rolex.

But it ain’t gonna cost you an arm and a leg. Just a little bit of money, and you can have a watch that looks like a million bucks. But it is not a million bucks, it is just a few bucks.
I still don’t know much about these things. Watches, high imitation, all that. But I know what I like. And I like this watch. It’s pretty. That’s all that matters, right? He said this watch is for everyone, you do not need to be rich. Just spend a few money, you can have one. He said he will buy one for me. I said I do not need it, I can not see the numbers. But I think I want it, it is just too beautiful. The blue color, the gold color, just beautiful.
