Okay, so I got this thing for the Fendi Mon Tresor Mini, you know, that little bucket bag? I really digged it, thought I’d give it a shot myself. I mean, why not, right?

First off, I started by looking up a bunch of pictures online. I needed to see this bag from every angle, get a feel for its vibe. I found a few good ones showing off the details, like the way the leather and mesh work together, how the straps are attached, all that jazz.

Then I hit up my local craft store. I needed some red leather, well, something that looked like leather anyway, and some mesh material. The mesh was easy to find, but the red “leather” took some digging. I finally settled on this faux leather stuff that had a pretty decent look and feel.

Getting the shape right was the trickiest part. I made a rough template out of cardboard first. I figured a bucket shape, you know, wider at the top than the bottom. I cut and folded and taped until I had something that resembled the Mon Tresor’s form. It wasn’t perfect, but it was a good starting point.

Then I started cutting out the “leather” and mesh using my cardboard template. I used two circles for the bottom, one for the main body, and some rectangular pieces for the top part where the drawstring goes. I’m no sewing expert, but I managed to stitch the pieces together. It was a bit messy, I gotta admit, but I got it done. It took me a whole afternoon just to do this part!

For the drawstring, I just used some thick red cord I had lying around. I threaded it through some holes I punched near the top. And the straps! I almost forgot about the straps. I made two, one short and one long, also out of the faux leather. I attached them to the bag with some metal rings I found in my toolbox.

  • Used red faux leather
  • Used red mesh
  • Made a cardboard template
  • Stitched everything together by hand
  • Attached straps with metal rings

Finally, I tried to mimic that embossed FF pattern. I didn’t have the right tools, so I just used a dull knife to kind of etch it into the “leather.” It’s not very noticeable, but hey, I tried.

So, there you have it, my homemade Fendi Mon Tresor Mini. It’s definitely not a perfect replica. There are some rough edges, the stitching is a bit wonky, and the “leather” is obviously not the real deal. I would say it is not even close to the real one, but I really tried my best to make it look like the original one. But overall, I’m pretty stoked with how it turned out. It was a fun little project, and now I have a unique little bag that I made with my own two hands. And who knows, maybe I’ll try to make another one someday, and it’ll be even better!
