So, the other day, I was browsing online, and I saw this thing, the Yves Saint Laurent YSL JUNE BOX BAG. It looked pretty fancy, and I thought, “Why not try to remake it?” It seemed like a fun little project to keep me busy.
First, I checked out the official website, just to get a good look at the bag. I saw the words “Dcouvrez les nouveaux sacs disponibles sur le site officiel *. Obtenez la nouvelle collection. Sacs Saint Laurent.” It’s all in French, but it basically means they have new bags on the website, I guess. Then I started gathering materials.
Here’s what I used:
- Some black leather-like material I found.
- A gold-colored chain I had lying around.
- A metal thingy for the closure, sort of like the one they call “a pivoting CASSANDRE closure.”
- Needle and thread, because, well, you gotta sew it together, right?
I started by cutting the material into the right shapes. I just eyeballed it, really, based on the pictures I saw online. It’s a boxy shape, so it wasn’t too hard. They call it a “box bag with front flap,” so I made sure to cut out a piece for the flap too.
Then came the sewing part. I’m not the best at sewing, but I managed to stitch it all together. It took some time, but hey, it’s a handmade project. I attached the chain, and then, the hardest part, I tried to figure out how to attach that metal closure thingy. I think I got it pretty close to the original.
After a lot of trial and error, and a few wonky stitches, I finally finished it! It’s not perfect, of course, but it kinda looks like the real deal. It says “BOX BAG RABAT SUR LE DEVANT,” I figured it out that it’s just the French way of saying “front flap box bag.”
The Result
Well, it’s a box bag, all right. It’s got a flap, and it’s black. It even has that gold chain. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out, considering I just used stuff I had around the house. It’s not exactly like the fancy one from the store, but it’s my own little version, and that’s what counts, right?
I even found out that there’s another bag called “BRICK” from the brand but I didn’t remake that one.
So yeah, that’s my little adventure in remaking a fancy bag. It was fun, and I learned a few things along the way. Maybe I’ll try another one sometime!
