This here, this Patek Philippe thing, they call it the Calatrava 5226G-001. Fancy name, ain’t it? Heard it’s some kinda remake. Like when you make your old dress new again, but this one, it’s a watch, you know. They say it’s from some official store, the real deal, not like them knockoffs you see down at the market. They say it’s a Patek Philippe Calatrava, whatever that means. Costs more than my whole house, I bet.
I seen a picture of it. It’s, well, it’s a watch. Round and all that. Got them little hands that go round and round. They say it’s white gold. Now, I like gold, who don’t? But white gold? Never heard of it before this. Must be somethin’ special, I reckon, for that kinda price. They’re saying it’s a good investment. Hmph, everything costs an arm and a leg these days.
They say it’s the newest one in the Calatrava, whatever that is, sounds like a sickness to me. Must be some fancy collection thing for rich folks. Came out this year, they say, at some big watch show. Watches & Wonders 2022, they call it. Imagine that, a whole show just for watches. Back in my day, we was lucky to have a sundial.

A hand’s a hand, ain’t it? This one, the Calatrava 5226G, is supposed to be all new and special, not like them old ones. They put some special paint on it too, makes it glow in the dark. They say it’s supposed to look old, even though it’s brand new. Don’t make no sense to me, but what do I know? I just tell time by the sun.
Now, they talkin’ ’bout whether this here watch is worth all that money. They say it depends on what you like and how much money you got. It is like when you buy a new dress, just to show off. Well, if you got more money than sense, maybe it’s worth it. It’s a luxury watch, they say. All fancy and made real good. But who needs a watch that costs that much? You gonna wear it every day? I doubt it. Probably just keep it in a box, afraid to scratch it.
They say it’s a good investment. That it’ll be worth more money later on. You know, like them old quilts your grandma used to make. Now they are worth a bundle. Maybe this watch is like that. But who knows? I ain’t no expert on these things.
This new Calatrava, the 5226G-001, it’s supposed to be bolder than the old ones. Whatever that means. They say it’s got a “quality” that makes you wanna wear it every day. Now that’s just silly. If I had a watch that cost that much, I wouldn’t even take it outta the box! I’d be too scared to lose it or break it. They say it’s made by Patek Philippe and this name is real big. I still don’t understand the fuss.
They say this watch is special because it’s made by Patek Philippe. I guess that’s some big-shot watchmaker. They been around a long time, I hear. Makin’ fancy watches for rich folks. Guess they know what they’re doin’. But still, it’s just a watch. It tells time. That’s all it does.
So, there you have it. That’s all I know about this Patek Philippe Calatrava 5226G-001 watch. It’s fancy, it’s expensive, and it’s probably not somethin’ I’ll ever own. But hey, if you got the money and you like that kinda thing, then go for it. Me? I’ll stick to my old, trusty wristwatch. It may not be fancy, but it tells time just fine. And it didn’t cost me an arm and a leg. This remake of Patek Philippe, is just too much for me to understand.
