Hey y’all, so I’ve been eyeing those fancy YSL bags for a while now, you know, the ones that scream “I’m stylish and have money to burn?” Yeah, those. Well, I decided to try and make my own version of the JUNE BOX BAG, ’cause why not? I’m feeling crafty and those price tags are, uh, a bit much.
First things first, I went on a little online treasure hunt. I hit up a bunch of sites. Seems like these YSL folks, they got all kinds of things, bags, and shoes and probably solid gold dog collars or something. Looked like Neiman Marcus and even the official YSL online store—you know, just to get a feel for the real deal. I even poked around on eBay, ’cause you never know what kind of deals you might find there. A lot of stuff on there is new, and hey, sometimes you can snag a bargain! But today, I was focused on the YSL.
After all that browsing, I got a pretty good idea of what makes these bags so darn special. They’re all about that high-end material. We’re talking real leather, the smooth, buttery kind. And they pay attention to the little things, the stitching, the hardware, all that jazz. It’s all about quality and looking fancy, even if you are like me and are just in it for the fun.
Next step, I needed to figure out how to actually put this thing together. I mean, I’m no designer, but I’ve got a sewing machine and a whole lot of determination. I found some patterns online, kinda similar to the JUNE BOX BAG, and used those as a starting point. I went to the fabric store, spent way too long feeling up different leathers, and finally settled on one that felt pretty darn luxurious.
- Gather materials: leather, lining fabric, thread, zipper, hardware.
- Cut out the pattern pieces. This took forever, and I definitely messed up a few times.
- Sew the main pieces together. My sewing machine was NOT happy about the thick leather, let me tell you.
- Add the lining. This was the tricky part, trying to make it all neat and tidy inside.
- Attach the hardware, zipper, and all those finishing touches.
The Big Reveal
Okay, so it’s not perfect. It’s a little wonky in places, and I definitely learned a lot along the way. But you know what? I’m pretty proud of it! It’s got that boxy shape, it’s made of real leather, and it feels pretty darn fancy when I carry it. Plus, I saved a ton of money, which means I can now justify buying more shoes. Just kidding… mostly.
All in all, it was a fun little project. Would I do it again? Maybe. Would I recommend it? If you’re feeling adventurous and don’t mind a little (or a lot) of frustration, then sure, go for it! Just be prepared to spend some quality time with your sewing machine and maybe have a glass of wine handy for when things get tough.
