Okay, so, I finally decided to go for it and remake that Small Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag, the special edition one. I’ve been looking at this bag for a while now, you know? It’s one of those that gets remade like, every season. I mean, it’s a classic style, I guess.
First off, I spent a good chunk of time just staring at pictures of this bag online. I zoomed in, zoomed out, tried to get a feel for every little detail. It’s called “Galleria,” fancy, huh? Sounds like some art piece. Then, I started sketching. Lots and lots of sketches. I’m no artist, but I tried my best to get the proportions right. It’s a small bag, but it’s got a lot going on with those compartments and the Saffiano leather, which, by the way, is like, a whole thing. It has this special cross-hatch texture that’s supposed to be super durable, I guess.
Next, I had to figure out the materials. I went to a bunch of stores, felt a lot of leather, and finally found something that felt kinda like Saffiano. It wasn’t the real deal, of course, but it was close enough. I also needed to find the right hardware, like the little feet at the bottom, the zippers, and that iconic Prada logo. That was tricky. I ended up ordering some stuff online, hoping for the best.
- Gathering the tools was another adventure. I dusted off my old sewing machine, bought some heavy-duty needles, and watched a ton of videos on how to sew leather. It’s not like sewing regular fabric, let me tell you. You gotta be careful, and it’s tough on the machine.
- Then came the actual sewing part. Oh boy. It was a lot of trial and error. I messed up a few times, had to unpick seams, and start over. But slowly, it started to look like a bag. A wonky, homemade bag, but still a bag! I remember one time, I was trying to attach the handle, I was struggling.
- The final step was adding the lining and the finishing touches. I chose a simple fabric for the inside, nothing too fancy. And getting that Prada logo on straight? That was a whole other challenge. I was sweating by that point.
The Big Reveal
After many days of work, I finally finished it. It’s not perfect, not by a long shot. But, you know what? I made it. It looks somewhat like the real Small Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag, and I’m pretty darn proud of myself. It was a fun project, and I learned a lot. Would I do it again? Maybe. But next time, I might just save up and buy the real thing!
